Film4 Summer Screen, London’s most beautiful open-air cinema, returns to The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court at Somerset House for 2011. A highlight of the city’s summer calendar, the extended twelve-day series features everything from a UK premiere to cult action thrillers, romantic comedies to film classics – all showing on a state-of-the-art screen with full surround sound.

It's more than just the movies: arrive early, come and picnic in the magnificent Somerset House courtyard while DJs play, or attend one of the fascinating companion events in Behind the Screen with BAFTA. All this before the sun dips down, the stars come out and the projector starts rolling for the cinematic event of the summer.

After gracing us with Broken Embraces in 2009, Spanish master Pedro Almodóvar returns to Somerset House with another sexy and subversive tale. This melodrama has more than a hint of danger - not to mention some flamboyantly creepy touches - as Antonio Banderas plays a plastic surgeon who hides some very dark secrets behind a seemingly perfect façade.

Nobody does it better than Bond: Sir Roger Moore is 007 in one of the most entertaining adventures of the whole series. The Union Jack parachute, the toothsome threat of Jaws and the nifty Lotus Esprit are just some of the iconic elements of this giddy spectacle that offers some knowing laughs amidst the over-the-top action.
